Petit Blanc (Little White)
This delightful, versatile gite in northern France has all you need whether you are looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday or for activity and excitement.
The gite is situated in the region of Picardy (‘Roses are blooming …’), in the district of the Somme, northern France.
Petit Blanc (Little White) is situated in the picturesque commune of Caumartin, 10 minutes drive from the site of the famous Battle of Crécy, which took place during the 100 Years War. Azincourt is just a 40 minute drive away as are the stunning beaches of the Picardy coastline.
The holiday gite stands in a quarter of an acre of grounds with its own small orchard. Guests can enjoy picking fresh cherries, apples, plums, black and redcurrants, raspberries and grapes in season.
From the gate you look out on uninterrupted views across farmland and you are just a short stroll from the ancient forest of Crecy with its cycle tracks and walks amongst tall oaks.
The pretty established garden provides gas barbecue facilities, garden furniture and a selection of games (croquet, badminton, boules), as well as off road parking for up to three cars. In order to make the most of the delightful location, near to some wonderful beaches, we have also provided deckchairs, beach mats, wind breaks, parasols, beach toys (body boards, kites, frisbee, bat and ball, buckets and spades) along with a sun awning at the front of the house.
New for the 2012 season is the delightful summer house (Petit Soleil) which we have installed in the garden. A perfect hideaway, you can enjoy afternoon tea or a glass of wine while looking out onto a delightful view across the garden to the fields beyond.
If you like peace and quiet but want to be within striking distance of all amenities then this could be the house for you.
Picardy Region: Picardie is often described as the place where the 'real France' begins. Close enough for weekend breaks and with dozens of charming towns and villages, several impressive tourist sites and a wide variety of landscapes, Picardie is an enticing proposition for those who want to experience the French way of life without straying too far from home.
The scenery of Picardy is characterised by intense agriculture and the raising of livestock. With its beaches in the north, and fields to the south, this easy-going region has plenty to explore.
Picardy is rich in history. The battle of the Somme in WW1 made the beaches here famous in the last century, but they have featured in previous historic moments, such as William the Conqueror setting sail. The area is steeped in the history of the World Wars, with several interesting museums and memorials nearby, including some original 1st World War trenches and the Circuit of Remembrance.
